MAKE YOUR SUMMER AWESOME CAMPS 2018
EMAIL makebykhadijah@gmail.com to SIGN UP

We are now conveniently located in Ann Arbor at 2725 Packard Ann Arbor MI 48104.

Our maker camps for summer are filled with excitement, imagination, wonder, and of course tons of open ended options to really hone in on your child’s creative muscle.  A important tool for their future whatever path they may follow.  We use a dynamic mix of movement, imagination, and making to give each child the freedom to engage at their OWN LEVEL!

In our FIFTH year we have really focused on what makes MAKE ART STUDIO the best fit.  Small class sizes (10 STUDENTS TO A CAMP MAX), focused one on one attention and the openness to let children ponder and make art, ideas and dreams tangible.  Each student has a unique voice and perspective we hope to cultivate at MAKE.

We are also SUPER EXCITED about our new location with ample amounts of space to MAKE AND MOVE!

WEEK 4:  July 23rd-July 27th  MAKE.  bigfoot, dragons, monsters, fairies, and more mythical creatures camp

MAKE tons of cool monster inspired projects that kids love to imagine and create.  All with a light airy/pop-art vibe, kids will make mini collections of hand painted monster rocks, clay bigfoot sculptures in a miniature diorama shoebox, fairy gardens/worlds, dragon watercolor art and some cool canvas monster/paper art to hang at home plus more.  This camp has so many open ended possibilities and it’s so cool to see how each student’s collection has it’s own look.  It’s going to be a MONSTROUSLY good time!  Fairy lovers can focus on that area if needed because this is a huge hit amongst some kiddos.

WEEK 5:  July 30th-August 3rd  MAKE.  STREET ART CAMP

MAKE is a huge fan of street art and making the world awesome through dynamic art displays.  This week of camp will focus on some of the worlds best street artists and learning about them.  In addition each student will plan, devise and create their own “street art identity” and will make art to distribute (lawfully) around town.  Through use of stickers, rocks, chalk and more we will really embrace street art culture.  In addition all students will have access to cameras to photograph their work.  We will listen to dynamic music and entertain all ideas to really engage students in this area of the artworld.

Makers will learn to create patterns by drawing and painting with texture in mind to use for paper fashions that we will create and matte.  This camp is for the designer minded student.  Paper fashions are super easy to make but the end result is a cohesive collection made entirely by the student.  Students will also learn about major fashion labels, patterns and pattern making for clothing design choices, and fabric choices (we will have TONS of paper and fabric for students to experiment with).  This is not a sewing camp however for the students interested we will have fabric, a sewing machine and more on hand to visually show how clothes are made.  This project is to encourage the thought process of making clothing by drawing painting and cutting FLAT designs that could eventually be turned into real clothing.

This week is an exciting new camp I am offering this year.  Many children have not had the joy of learning to collage or make sculpture with paper mache.  This age old process is amazing to see as a finished product.  From masks, to unicorn taxidermy hangings to buildings and playscapes we will create some amazing paper mache pieces for them to be thrilled about and hang at home.  We will simultaneously make amazing canvas art with magazine clippings and more to learn to collage and incorporate cool photos into their artwork.  Feel free to bring in clippings or ideas they have.  This camp focuses on process, drying times, and working on multiple projects at once.
